Ash. Ideal for stairs and furniture

The ring-pored ash wood is a special and yet affordable wood due to its structure and colouring. Its fibre structure makes ash wood comparable to oak, to which it is a cost-effective alternative. Its sometimes pronounced brown heart makes this type of wood exciting and special in terms of colour and gives stairs and furniture a very unique and individual touch. Always a feast for the eyes is the contrast that a pronounced brown heart forms  with the  lighter colored  sapwood and  thus, makes it look extraordinarily lively. Especially in furniture construction, ash wood can therefore be used to create very special and beautiful, exclusive objects that are second to none.

Wide range of applications

Even though ash is one of the heavy wood species, it is somewhat lighter than oak and the lower hardness class makes it somewhat easier to work with; nevertheless, it offers high stability and resilience because it is tough and elastic. However, ash wood is reserved for indoor use because not weather-resistant. In addition to furniture and staircase construction, it is suitable for parquet and veneers, for the production of tool handles, oars and paddles. Special ash varieties such as marsh ash are also used in instrument making.
Depending on the harvest time, ash wood has slight differences. For example, ash felled in winter is considered tougher and stronger, while ash felled in summer is somewhat more flexible.
